ALUMINUM EXTRUSION
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Pressing of Aluminum billets through a form giving die by high pressure lead to Aluminum sections, for example for window frames. Due to the friction the Aluminum melts in the die and after the die the appropriate section is formed. Depending on the hardness of the alloy the process speed is limited.
GAS APPLICATION
Limiting factors for the process speed or defects on the surface are high temperatures of the profile and the die. Liquid nitrogen cools down the section and the bearing zone of the die. The evaporating gas inert the area where the shape is given to the profile.
MESSER SOLUTIONS
Messer offers necessary know how to deliver liquid nitrogen to the bearing zone. Both the layout of cooling channels in the die and the conditioning of the nitrogen with a subcooler are essential. With control of the flow the active cooling enhances the capacity of the press and the quality of the surface.
